3月30日，中央研究院地球科學研究所(2樓演講廳)舉辦了「建立海洋保護區：為什麼、在哪裡、以及如何？」的海洋行動研討會。本活動由海洋知識行動網絡(Ocean KAN)、未來地球台北海洋工作小組(Future Earth Taipei Ocean Working Group)和可持續科學中心(Center for Sustainability Science)主辦，由台灣海洋科技與可持續發展協會(IBSSD)和國家科學技術委員會(National Science and Technology Council)協辦。

本次研討會的目的在於探討如何透過利益相關者的共同參與協商和協同管理來建立海洋保護區(MPAs)。活動分為兩個階段：小組討論(30分鐘)和主講人發表(5分鐘演講+5分鐘問答)，以增進與觀眾之間的互動。小組討論分為三個主題：(a) 為什麼和在哪裡建立海洋保護區：科學研究的角色？(b) 如何讓利益相關者共同參與設計和建立海洋保護區？(c) 如何讓利益相關者參與海洋保護區的協同管理和執行？
