Taiwan Science Festival's City Meets Haisheng Pavilion Special Exhibition #Oil Damage Ocean#When Miss Alkali Meets Mr. Sour

Science Communication
Event Date | 2023/11/04 - 2023/11/05 Address | Pingyan 1936 Cultural Base

In the special exhibition of \2023 4th Taiwan Science Festival: City Meets Marine Pavilion\, students of the Department of Science Communication started from the topic of \Caring for the Ocean\, calling on the public to love the ocean, learn scientific principles and enhance their understanding of marine nature.
Oil damage to the ocean: Use the principle of \different density\ oil-water separation to make marine bottles, add decorations such as marine organisms, and simulate the appearance of the ocean.
When Miss Alkali Meets Mr. Acid: Introduce the color change of acid-base reaction, the principle of action using acid-base indicator is that when the pH value of the environment changes, its own form will change, thus changing the color.

The "2023 4th Taiwan Science Festival" launched scientific experience activities such as science hands-on booths on the topic of "sustainability", announced the results of talent cultivation in the science popularization activity plan, students from the Department of Science and Communication designed science popularization activities that started from sustainability issues and designed science popularization activities advocating sustainability issues, and the Pingtung Tobacco Factory of the National Museum of Marine Biology and Biology (hereinafter referred to as the Haisheng Museum) generated a dialogue through on-site observation and hands-on experience for the visitors. In addition to the rich and diverse content of the Science Festival, the Science Festival invites the public to experience the rich and diverse content of the Science Festival. Oil Damage to the Ocean: Produced an ocean bottle (simulating oil pollution and garbage residues), combined with the oil pollution issue in the southern region, the refinery's offshore oil leakage leaked, resulting in oil leakage and spread to the coast of Xiaoliuqiu and Kenting National Park. Of course, when it flows into the ocean, it will float on the surface of the sea to form an oil film, reduce the oxygen production of the ocean, and indirectly cause the suffocation and death of marine organisms. The making of ocean bottles advocates that people "should protect our oceans and not let them get hurt again." 2. "When Mr. Acid Meets Miss Alkali": Mainly through a variety of color changes to arouse students' interest, introduce interesting science education curriculum activities, and interact with the public to do science experiments, which can stimulate and strengthen children's motivation to learn. Let the public clearly learn the concept of acid and alkali ~ The booth does and experiences the activities and explanations, and the team actively promotes science education, combining the rich and special marine education resources of the Marine Life Museum.
