We are honored to welcome all of you to join the 2023 Chemistry National Meeting. It will be hosted by National University of Kaohsiung, Department of Applied Chemistry from March 10 to 12, 2023, at Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The 2023CNM with the main theme of “A New Era in Chemistry - Sustainable Development” contains various interesting talks in academic research project, applied technology, industrial economic efficiency, scientific educational method, sustainable development, environmental safety, etc. We hope that through this conference, transnational chemical expertise can be fully exchanged and discussed, thereby stimulating more cutting-edge and novel ideas in chemical research and development. At the same time, assisting the technological upgrade of the industry, and contributing to the continuous improvement of human living quality and civilization perpetual continuation. Through the technical and academic exchanges of chemistry academic and chemical related industry scholars and experts, the participation of students and young talents, and the trainers and educatiors; the chemical industry in Taiwan will create the next sustainable new era in the nearly future. The 2023 Chemistry National Meeting (2023CNM) took place at the National University of Kaohsiung in Taiwan, with the main theme of 'A New Era in Chemistry - Sustainable Development.' This conference is a flagship event in Taiwan for the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (IYBSSD) initiative, announced by the United Nations to emphasize the importance of basic science in promoting sustainable development. Dr. Yueh-Tuan Chen, the President of the National University of Kaohsiung, is the 2023CNM General Chair. Dr. Ting-Yu Lee, a Professor in the Department of Applied Chemistry, is the Secretary-General. Dr. Fangchen Lee, the President of Chemical Society Located in Taipei (CSLT), serves as the Honorary Chairman.This year, for the first time, the Chemistry Discipline of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and the Chemistry Division of the Natural Science and Sustainable Research Promotion and Engagement Center (SPEC) have been invited to contribute to the planning of the conference program. The aim of the conference is to provide chemists with enhanced academic opportunities, foster domestic and international connections, and facilitate discussions on public issues.The conference program includes awards recognizing outstanding talent, keynote speeches, panel discussions, poster presentations, and forums covering topics like zero carbon emission and circular economy, green chemistry, and undergraduate education in chemistry. Other sessions are comprised of the NSTC Chemistry Discipline Plan and Research Plan Consultation, TSMC Technical Seminar, a special lecture on career development, an exchange session for women scientists, and an exhibition of publications, products, and services. Furthermore, there is an organized session for recruiting industrial personnel. The goal of the annual meeting is to help the chemical profession realize its potential in the field.The 2023CNM aims to encourage the exchange and discussion of chemical expertise, offering learning opportunities and platforms for self-expression, community connections, and inspiring innovative, forward-looking, and original ideas. Moreover, it promotes interaction between industry, government, academia, and research institutes, fostering opportunities for cross-fertilization and collaborative efforts to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
