From August 12 to 13, 2012, the Taiwan Atomic Energy Association (TAEA) once again visited Taichung City and held a science exhibition at the SOGO Department Store Plaza in Guangshan, allowing Taichung citizens to experience the fun science game "Atomic GO Adventure" during their summer vacation, and the two-day event attracted a total of 3,472 visits from the public.

In order for the public to understand the science knowledge related to atomic energy in the living environment, the exhibition area included topics such as "Radiation Applications", "Decommissioning of Nuclear Waste", "Radiation Disaster Response", and "Green Energy Technology". In addition, in response to the imminent discharge of tritium wastewater into the sea in Japan, a special exhibition area on "Marine Conservation" has been set up to provide the public with information and scientific knowledge related to tritium discharges through exhibitions and on-site interactions with the public, so as to make the public aware of the positive actions taken by the government. This will help the public understand the Government's proactive response to the issue.

In addition, unlike previous science tour exhibitions, this time, in conjunction with the department store's public service activities, children and parents from the Children's Home of the Central District of the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Maria Foundation were invited to watch a short film on atomic science and play hands-on with science on August 10th and 13th, providing underprivileged schoolchildren with the opportunity to learn about atomic energy, with a total of 72 participants in the four hands-on activities.

With the enthusiastic participation of Taichung citizens, the science activities were successfully concluded! In the future, the IAEA will continue to organize science exhibitions and hands-on activities. In addition to the combination of knowledge and fun in the content, it will also increase the opportunities for the general public to get closer to atomic energy science in response to the needs of different regions, towns and villages, and different audiences.
